ALL POSTSSwearnet versus Showcase: Will we get to see the Boys win for a change?
<p>I was in predictable euphoria when I heard an Internet based Season 8 is currently in production. What my big question is: In all the movies and TV series the Boys always ended up in the pokey (which sure does not seem like any jail in the USA) and Lahey, despite his ingratitude and upfuckedness, always won.
</p><p>Everyone knows you can't have crime pay on TV. The little children might get the wrong idea (eyeroll). Now that they are not held back by the chains of the agencies regulating televised media, I wonder if the Boys can finally pull off a job and win for a change! Discuss?

<p>It would be nice, and we have seen it before, albiet to a lesser extent, and something always ends up getting fucked up in the next season... But an all out victory for the boys wouldn't seem to be in keeping with the tone of the show overall. Their lot in life is to be kept down.

<p>Hmm. I always just thought that was "TV rules". But I think I get what you are saying. Back in the old cartoon days, when the story of Tom and Jerry changed so that Tom and Jerry were friends instead of one perpetually chasing the other, it started sucking.
</p><p>One thing about the 'wars' in TPB I have noticed: Jim Lahey's motives for participating in them seem to have less to do with preventing crime than they do impressing Randy, and giving him and Randy a passion to share. When Randy is not at Jim's side, Jim either slides into apathy or goes completely off the rails into psychopathy. He's also deeply sexually frustrated by Julian, who's quite obviously hetero.
