Returning from jail, Ricky and Julian find there are a lot of changes in the park. Ricky tries to better himself so he can get back with Lucy and Julian struggles to start growing dope without Ricky's help.

Plot Synopsis[]

We find Bubbles at the trailer park trying to start the shitmobile so he can pick up Ricky and Julian from jail. When he arrives there, they are still wearing the suits they had on for Ricky's wedding. The first stop they make on their way home is the liquor store.

Act One[]

Sitting in a local park drinking, Julian lays out his plan for something called Freedom 35 -- a plan to grow pot and sell it to the prisoners at the jail, using the guards to smuggle it in. For this, they need growing equipment and money to buy it. They hit the local mall and start stealing car stereos, in order to sell them to J-Roc and make some cash.

While boosting a stereo, they set off a car alarm and the mall manager, Gary comes to check it out. Ricky convinces Gary that they are dressed too nicely to be the thieves. Gary slinks away apologizing profusely.

Back at the trailer park, they find in in disarray. The streets littered with trash; overturned cars and slow burning fires, and more. Sunnyvale has fallen apart in their absence. After being attacked by bottle kids, Bubbles explains that Jim Lahey has been drinking too much, not taking care of the park, and that everyone wants him fired. Julian says they need to keep Lahey around because at least he is the devil they know, and he can be controlled, unlike someone new. Ricky wants to go visit Lucy and Trinity, but Julian says they are going to J-Roc's first. Bubbles suggests that maybe Ricky should visit Ray before anything else happens.

Ricky finds Ray and Sarah drinking at Ray's trailer. He also discovers from his father that Lucy has moved to a new trailer and that things are 'different' with her now, but doesn't say in what way.

Ricky goes to Lucy's trailer and finds she has let Randy move in and Trinity has been living with Lucy's mother temporarily. She says she is in love with Randy. Ricky and Randy scuffle and Ricky is made to leave the premises.

Act Two[]

At J-Roc's, Julian tries to unload the stereos they stole, but J-Roc and T are not impressed, as the gear is not very good. Because Julian has lost his truck while he's been in jail, J-Roc offers to rent him a car, and Julian agrees to pay him in weed. J-Roc will also acquire the hydroponics gear to start the grow operation.

Cory and Trevor deliver the gear, and Julian tells them to keep quiet about it. Ricky arrives and tells Julian about Lucy and Randy and says that he has to find a way to get her back. He wants out of the dope business so he can get a proper job. Julian says it's a bad idea to try and get Lucy back and calls him stupid. Ricky takes exception to this and leaves angrily.

Ricky ends up working for Gary at the mall as a security guard, collecting shopping carts from the parking lot and preventing their theft. Soon, he ends up running into Bubbles, who is performing his trade of stealing and fixing carts, and Ricky tells him to knock it off. Understandably, Bubbles is upset by Ricky's new career and he's not sure how he's going to make a living now.

Ricky starts getting frustrated about the lack of concern for cart safety, and chases Bubbles off the property a second time. Then Julian arrives and tells him about a problem he's having with some pot plants. Ricky isn't interested and Julian says he should forget about Lucy and grow dope with him again. Ricky tells him to fuck off.

Julian then plots with Trevor and Cory to get Ricky fired from the mall by planting a stolen car stereo in Ricky's trunk. Julian drops the dime on Ricky to Gary who now wantsto call the cops. Julian tells him to Gary with it himself. They go out to the parking lot where Ricky is apprehending Bubbles stealing carts. Gary is about to arrest Bubbles, when Ricky changes his mind and blames it on Cory and Trevor instead. The pair get hauled away and Bubbles is let go. Gary demands to look in Ricky's car and finds the stereo Julian planted. Gary fires Ricky who drives off in a huff, fully aware of what Julian has done.

Act Three[]

Back at the park, Ricky finds Jim Lahey lolling around drunk and babbling. Ricky tells him off while throwing garbage at him.

That evening, Ricky pulls up to Bubbles' trailer and apologizes for giving him a hard time at the mall, and Bubbles thanks him for not turning him him. Then he goes to Julian's trailer and asks him about the dope problem he's having. Ricky admits that people think he's stupid and that Julian is smart. Ricky explains the problem: Julian bought the wrong clones, and asks him what it's like for him to feel stupid for a change. Julian admits it doesn't feel very good, and asks for Ricky's help, so Ricky agrees to do what he can.

  • The opening 'main' credits have changed from last season, Jeanna Harrison has been removed, and replaced by Elliot Page. Sam Tarasco and Shelley Thompson have been added, and Ardon Bess and Sandi Ross are obviously gone since they do not appear in any subsequent episodes following season one.
  • Ricky is referred to as 'Reveen' for the first time in the regular series during this episode.
  • Bubbles' bubble machine makes its first appearance in the show. It reappears in a flashback to 1997 in "Dear Santa Claus, Go Fuck Yourself".
  • 'Freedom 35' is an obvious take on Freedom 55 Financial, the trademarked name of a Canadian company affiliated with London Life, specializing in retirement plans and investments. The 'Freedom 55' slogan and ad campaign has been prevalent since the 90's.
  • As of this episode, Jim Lahey no longer has a mustache, and it does not reappear again in the series.
  • Julian once again refers to Sunnyvale as being his trailer park.
  • Ricky claims that working as a Mall Cop is the first legitimate job that he's held, seemingly forgetting that he was once the garbageman for the Sunnyvale Trailer Park, as indicated in "I'm Not Gay, I Love Lucy... Wait A Second, Maybe I Am Gay". However, Ricky could be referring to the fact that it's the first legitimate job that he worked where the previous occasions, Ricky went to jail before he could begin his employment.
  • As of this episode, Jim Lahey begins a downward spiral as he becomes consumed by alcoholism and the obsession of getting rid of Ricky, Julian and Bubbles for good. Indeed, from this episode forth, Lahey will be portrayed as severely drunk in an increasing number of episodes as the series wears on.
  • The dialogue suggests that Ricky and Julian spent eighteen months in jail, and that Ricky saw Lucy and Trinity some fourteen months prior. Strangely, in the previous episode's conclusion, they are interviewed in jail six months into their sentence and Julian says they only have 45 left to go, though it could have been extended for some reason.

Ricky's Knock Knock Jokes[]

  • Ricky: Knock knock.
  • Lahey: Who's there, Rick?
  • Ricky: Somebody.
  • Lahey: Somebody who?
  • Ricky: Somebody whose ex-wife owns the fuckin' trailer park, is the only reason you got the job as trailer park supervisor, you got fired from the police force because you fucked up big time, but we're not gonna talk about that are we? ...and now you're gonna get fired from this job because you're nothing but a drunk fuckin' idiot, can't even run the trailer park. You're drunk right now, I can smell the fuckin' liquor on you from here.
