While running a stolen barbeque operation, the boys run into trouble with Lahey and the local law enforcement.
Plot Synopsis[]
[]
Ricky talks about how he has been helping Trinity and her classmates with her Junior Acheiver's club. Lahey and Randy arrive on scene accusing Ricky of stealing Randy's barbeque and Ricky calls Julian to intervene when a scuffle ensues.
Act One[]
Julian arrives and Ricky claims it's his own barbeque, but Randy says he can prove it's not. Lahey says for Randy to forget it and they leave. Julian scolds Ricky for stealing inside the park.
Bubbles explains how he is helping Ricky to strip and repaint the barbeques Ricky steals. Ricky talks to the Junior Achievers about their next project, and the kids are keen to help Ricky steal barbeques, since they've heard that children can't go to jail. Julian and Bubbles, who are busy fixing barbeques, are set upon by Lahey and Randy and warned that they are being watched "like a shithawk".
Before school, Ricky and the kids steal a barbecue from an apartment balcony and the owner catches him in the act and maces hm. Ricky escapes, and drives the kids to school. He is still stinging from the mace and tries to wash his eyes with a bucket of mop water. A local cop, (Officer Erica Miller) arrives to pick up her child and see this occurring. Ricky introduces him self as Randy Lahey, the J.A. leader and leaves in haste.
Act Two[]
Ricky gets chewed out by Bubbles and Julian for letting the kids participate in criminal activities. Officer Miller meets with Lahey and Randy at the park and discovers Ricky has given her a false name. Julian gets a heads up from Ray that the lady cop is sniffing around looking for barbeques and they scramble to hide their operation.
Miller, Lahey and Randy confront Julian and ask about Ricky's whereabouts; Julian gives away nothing. Miller doesn't buy it and orders Julian into the car to begin searching for Ricky. Ricky is chucking the barbeques into the lake with the rest of the crew; they are discovered (all but Bubbles, who held his breath and stayed underwater) and detained by Miller.
Act Three[]
While being handcuffed for arrest, Julian pleads with Erica to let them go, based on the idea that they can't find real jobs and are just trying to survive any way they can. Charmed by his 'honesty', Miller decides to release them, provided they return the stolen property, never touch another barbeque again, and Ricky stops driving the shitmobile. Miller suspects that Ricky is the real bad influence on Julian and that Julian is, at heart, a good person. Ricky still has to return the barbeques to their owners, but is forbidden to drive so he instructs Cory and Trevor on the ins and outs of operating the vehicle.
Julian calls a halt to any further barbeque theft, but is later apprehended by Miller while trying to return Randy's barbeque to him. He explains this to her, narrowly avoiding arrest yet again. While explaining how he cares about the park and the people in it, Cory and Trevor accidentally drive the shitmobile into Lahey and Randy's trailer (with them in it), destroying the one end of it.
Julian brings Randy and Jim out to safety but finds they are wearing costumes instead of their usual clothes. When Lahey tries to make up a story to explain their appearance, Randy tells everyone that they are a gay couple engaging n a little role playing. After an awkward silence from the lookers-on, Julian (once again) convinces Miller not to make any arrests for the accident. While Julian is answering Erica's questions, he invites her in for a drink, and she accepts.
Background[]
- When Erica is questioning Julian, it is indicated he is around 32 years old, as he says he's lived in Sunnyvale for 32 years and has known Ricky "all my life".
References[]
Rickyisms[]
"...it's amazing how much of it applicates to what me and Julian do. Profit counting, supply and command, all that shit." He meant to say "applies", "profit margin", and "supply and demand" respectively.
"Lahey was my mother's mating name."
"Why are you dressed up like Indianapolis Jones?"
Ricky doesn't want to jump in the lake to avoid the cops because he is worried about lurches. (leeches)
He also complains to Erica Miller about the cost of Trinity's school supplies—he says contractor sets instead of protractor sets.
Lahey's Shit Talk[]
"We're in the eye of a shiticane here, Julian. Ricky is a low-shit system."
"I'm watching you, Julian. Like a shit-hawk."
